Weekly Tribes 2013 – A Bowl Full of Goodies

My friend’s daughters did this for her for Mother’s Day; it is a great way to show appreciation and might also be a nice way to end the school year!

You will need a large bowl.

Cut different colored strips of paper.

Invite students to write about memorable moments in an appreciative way.  This is not just a sentence or a single appreciation, it is a descriptive short paragraph.  (Good way to incorporate those writing skills – ‘magnify the moment’!)

For an extra visual (when the bowl is full, it will be quite colorful), use squares of paper and have students fold a little origami after they write…

Celebrate in community circle as the appreciative/memorable narratives are distributed and read aloud.

Good idea to make sure that all students are included and pre-check offerings to the bowl for appropriateness.
