Any and All 1

TITLE:  Any Subject

GRADE:  Any grade

MATERIALS/TIME REQUIRED:  White boards are optimal, but not entirely necessary; 15 – 25 minutes

PROVIDE FOR INCLUSION – A You Question, Energizer, or Linking Strategy: Ask, “Have you turned to someone near you, whether you know them very well or not, and asked them for some information?”  For some, this is a natural occurrence, for others, it is a last resort – ask where your students fit in…on a scale of one (never!) to five (no problem!).

IDENTIFY THE OBJECTIVES:

Content Standard:  Applicable to any topic

Collaborative:  Work on tasks together, Participate fully, Reflect on experience

Personal:  Realize personal strengths, responsibility

IDENTIFY THE STRATEGY:  Peer Response Huddle (for younger grades, K-1, I call it “huddle up!”)  Follow as written in your Tribes book.  Once students know how this works, you can use it AS you daily reflection – it is a great “reflective practice”!

REFLECTION:

Content:  What did you learn about your own learning?!

Collaborative/social:  What was your level of participation?  What did you find particularly easy or frustrating?

Personal:  How helpful were you to others?  How helpful were others to you?  What did you like about this strategy?  When is a good time to use it?

PROVIDE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR APPRECIATION:  Invite statements

AUTHENTIC ASSESSMENT:  Since this strategy really IS a reflective practice, and authentic assessment might be to summarize, either verbally, visually, or write it.
