Graphing Feelings

TITLE:  Graphing Feelings                        Submitted by Ana Guerra

GRADE: Pre-school (age 4)

MATERIALS/TIME REQUIRED:  Five Tribbles, p. 251 (cut into sections for easy graphing)

PROVIDE FOR INCLUSION – A You Question, Energizer, or Linking Strategy: Community circle with Tribbles:  How do I feel today?

IDENTIFY THE OBJECTIVES:

Content Standard: Create a graph and answer questions about graph

Collaborative: Participate fully, listen attentively

IDENTIFY THE STRATEGY: Graphing Who We Are:  Use a tribble for each child to represent his/her answer; attach to a board or poster to create a bar graph.

REFLECTION: Use the graph:  How many people are really happy?  Which bar on the graph has the most?  The least?  Which are the same?  What does the graph tell us about the mood of the class?  What can you do to help others be happy?  What would you want someone to do for you?

PROVIDE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR APPRECIATION:  Model and invite statements

AUTHENTIC ASSESSMENT: Maybe make a human bar graph of the same information.
