TITLE:  Technology Chain Reaction

GRADE:  K – 12

MATERIALS/TIME REQUIRED:  Content for practice or review; 10-20 minutes, depending on level of difficulty

PROVIDE FOR INCLUSION – A You Question, Energizer, or Linking Strategy:

Use the strategy “Thumbs up, thumbs down” .

Incorporate personal and content substance in the statements.

Examples:

I would rather have a computer than a television.

I know what ROM stands for

I can tell you the “path” from the desktop to capturing a window with the “grab” tool on a MAC.

IDENTIFY THE OBJECTIVES:

Content Standard: Students demonstrate a sound understanding of the nature and operation of technology systems. (http://www.educationworld.com/standards/national/technology/k_12.shtml)

This can include terms, functions, applications and demonstrations of understanding technology.

Collaborative:  Participating fully, listening attentively, sharing

Personal:  Valuing diversity of ideas, identifying personal strengths

PROVIDE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR APPRECIATION:  Invite statements

AUTHENTIC ASSESSMENT:  Follow the strategy with an exercise like creating a concept map, drawing a diagram, writing a quiz question, summarizing a definition in exactly six words, writing a “cloze” statement, etc.
