Weekly Tribes 2012 – Twister!

Twister!

Yes.  I’m talking the game from the 60’s.  Start collecting for a class set.  (In the meantime, make some 8 x 11’s for some ‘finger twister’.)

Now put some content-related items on the colors.

My friend Ms. Haven used coins for 2nd graders:  green circles had quarters, red circles had dimes, blue circles had nickels, and yellow circles each had a penny.  Students were challenged to make certain amounts; they worked in pairs and had to use both hands and feet.

Try using nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs on the four colors; students make sentences.  You can also most likely think up some vocabulary or spelling applications.

Better yet, ask the students to make it relevant and content-rich.  Active learning and memorable moments!
