One to Five Minute History

Thanks to Wendy in Toronto for these content ideas to use with a one/five minute history.

Have students choose a topic from what they have learned in your class and speak about it for one, two, three, up to five minutes.  It is helpful to have them commit to an exact time limit; this activates summarizing and some critical planning skills.

Students will enjoy participating in this strategy from the point of view of taking on the role of an historical figure, a modern day important figure, a math formula, a composer or scientist, a character in a story. a planet, a system of the body, an agreement, etc.
