Weekly Tribes Inclusion – Getting Started

Inclusion – Names and Norms

Set up your classroom for success by making names a priority.  While doing so, introduce the agreements and agree to some classroom norms.  Here are a few good strategies to consider (most of these strategies can be found in your Tribes books!):

Names:

  • Name Wave
  • Partner Introduction
  • Name Poem (incorporate language arts!)
  • All in the Family
  • One Minute History
  • Wordle (www.wordle.net)

Norms:

  • Venn Diagram (which the teacher wants/needs and what the students want/need for a positive learning environment
  • Ideal classroom
  • Funeral for Put-Downs
  • Personal Contract
  • Wordle
