Weekly Tribes: Musical Influence

Influence is in the air…so why not challenge your students with a little musical intelligence…

What is ‘stirring’?  Once you identify it, challenge students to come up with a musical example that demonstrates…song, lyrics, mood, etc.

For example, what if students are using put-downs once they are out of class (in halls, on playground, etc.)?

Possible musical examples to encourage no put downs are:  R.E.M ‘Everybody Hurts’, Todd Rundgren ‘Be Nice to Me’. Bruce Springsteen ‘Let’s Be Friends’

Perhaps some pro-social, anti aggression songs or lyrics might be worth a little attention…maybe even incorporate some grammar and punctuation awareness?
