Weekly Tribes 2012 – 2013 Oldies, but goodies…

Here are a few strategies that are always easy to pull out when you want a little inclusion…or even influence to reflect at the end of the day…

Final Countdown

Four things:

  • something good…
  • something I learned…
  • I’m thankful for…
  • a clean, funny joke

You can ask for just four from the whole community, or give each student a choice of ONE of the four to share.  this can be done in full community, in small groups, or just pairs.  It can take 1-2 minutes, or 15 minutes…depends on how much you ask for.

Appreciations and Apologies

In community circle, invite students to make a statement, and offer an appreciation, or an apology.  No comments, just attentive listening.  Can be a good way to end the week.

Cares, Concerns, Compliments, and Celebrations

Just like “appreciations and apologies”, this is an opportunity to make a statement, in a caring community, without discussion or explanation.  If your have a class where there are lots of issues, or you expect ‘drama’. then have a “C-C-C-C” box where student can write their statements.  then YOU are the one to read and edit, if necessary.
